Kiaat, rebar, old locker
I often wonder what stories these old school lockers could tell. What lunches did they hold? What love notes were pushed into them? Or what contraband was secreted for later pleasure?
This piece is what I call industrial mid-century. The locker adds an industrial feel while the proportions and hair pin legs are typical of mid-century modern design. Making the legs from rebar (concrete reinforcement) adds texture and enhances the industrial feel.
This piece celebrates time after school. The legs give a sense of weightlessness symbolising freedom. I am sure that many will identify with the end of school meaning time to eat. This is afterall a sideboard or server.
